From Start to Finnish

The From Start to Finnish course is based on the well-known book written by Leila White. The course consists of 40 chapters based on various practical communication situations, an illustrative grammar and lots of interactive and diverse exercises. The course is an elementary course.

The course provides the student with a clear impression of the Finnish language and useful tools for everyday situations. The language trained in the course is standard Finnish, which can be used all around the country. However, some general features of the language spoken in the Capital area are included. The assisting language is English.

In the From Start to Finnish course you have lessons with hypertext links, plenty of different kinds of exercises, comprehensive grammar, rich illustrations and high quality audio recordings of the texts and the exercises. The course program also features a language lab where you can record your pronunciation and compare it with the original one. The programme gives you immediately feedback of your progress.

The course will among other things teach you to introduce yourself, greet other people, behave yourself on phone, shops and restaurants, discuss about the weather and different contemporary issues (and have fun in Finnish)!
